BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (WCAX) – Congresswoman Becca Balint has won a second term representing Vermont in the U.S. House.
With 63 percent of the votes counted, the Associated Press has called the race for Balint over her opponent, Libertarian Mark Coester by a 64-to-28 percent margin.
“Thank you so much for coming out tonight. Thank you for believing in me, for believing in the work that I do, and for absolutely believing in democracy. I thank you so so sincerely for your support. It has been the honor of my life to represent Vermont over these last two years in Congress,” Balint told supporters Tuesday night at the Stone Church in Brattleboro.
The former state lawmaker representing Brattleboro and Windham County made history in 2022 when she became the first woman elected to Congress from Vermont. Despite Democrats being in the minority, she has said she is proud of the work she accomplished, including delivering $11 million of community project funding. for housing, seniors, and child care.
Coester, a Westminster resident, runs his own logging company and is a newcomer to politics.
