Rep. Stefanik captures 6th term in US House

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Rep. Elise Stefanik has won a sixth term representing New York’s North Country in Congress.

With about 3/4 of the votes counted, the Associated Press declared the Republican the winner over Democrat Paula Collins by a margin of 62-to-38 percent.

As chair of the House Republican Conference since 2021, Stefanik is the fourth-ranking GOP member. Since being elected as a moderate Republican in 2014, she has become a fierce defender of Donald Trump, serving as a top surrogate for the former president in this year’s campaign.

Paula Collins is a cannabis tax attorney who lives in De Kalb Junction.
