Vt. police warn public of sex offender set to be released from prison

WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) – Police are warning the public about a sex offender being released from prison who they say has a high risk of reoffending. They say he targets children.

The Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations says Alan Ziesemer, 65, will get out of jail on Wednesday and he plans to live in Winooski.

Police say Ziesemer has been in prison since 2001 for sexually and physically assaulting a 6-year-old girl. And they say he was convicted in 1980 of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in New Jersey.

Corrections officials say that compared to other offenders, Ziesemer has a high risk of reoffending. They say his victims would likely be children he does not know.
