How did Vermont towns swing in the presidential race?

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Donald Trump may not have won in Vermont Tuesday but he did improve his results from 2020.

Vice President Kamala Harris got 64 percent of the vote, double Trump’s support. But the former president’s preliminary total tally is about 7,000 votes more than he received in 2020 against President Biden.

Vermont’s town-by-town results are similar to 2020, with a majority going for Harris. Trump was able to pick up about a dozen more towns compared to 2020, most of them in Rutland County, including Castleton. Other pickups included Swanton and Lyndon.

The towns with the highest overall vote for Rrump were Searsburg at 67 percent, Irasburg at 64 percent, and Holland at 60 percent.

By contrast, larger population areas like Burlington and South Burlington had more than 70 percent of votes supporting Harris. Norwich was the biggest Harris supporter at 85 percent. Fayston and Warren also both topped 80 percent.
