PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – There will be no investigation in the Lake City over claims made in an email back in September.
It was connected to an email penned by a councilor who made claims against the police department, the mayor’s office, and former members of the council. Mayor Chris Rosenquest wanted the investigation that he says would look into alleged illegal activity and wrongdoing at the police department.
There are allegations an officer misused a city-owned vehicle and cell phone, doctored time sheets, and didn’t follow up on investigations. Rosenquest also wanted the council to look into potential targeted enforcement of other department members and political candidates by an officer no longer at the Plattsburgh City Police Department.
“Why not investigate these concerns? If a councilor says ‘Hey, something is illegal going on,’ why not investigate it? If it has been made clear there are potential illegalities happening with targeted enforcement, why not investigate it?” said Mayor Rosenquest.
All councilors aside from councilor Jennifer Tallon voted against the proposal.
