Sudden closure of child care center spurs questions

COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – The abrupt closure of a local child care provider has left a number of families in the lurch and raised questions about possible fraud.

Little Saplings two locations in Colchester and Morrisville are now closed.

WCAX looked through state reports and found a history of serious violations at both sites. The Vermont Department for Children and Families confirms to WCAX that the licenses have been suspended with the intent to revoke at both sites after the Child Development Division investigated. And as WCAX media partner Seven Days first reported this week. Families affected by the Colchester location’s closure now say the owner, Scott Breveleri, owes them thousands of dollars.

Laura Ullman spoke with some of the families about what the closures mean for them. She’ll have a full report on the Channel 3 News at 11.
