Scouts gather in Southern Vt. to honor veterans

BRANDON, Vt. (WCAX) – Hundreds gathered in Southern Vermont to help show appreciation for the state’s veterans this weekend.

Scouts gathered in Brandon Saturday morning helping to honor U.S. military veterans prior to the Monday observation.

The Green Mountain Council, who put on the 26th edition of the parade, chooses a different town each year to honor veterans in.

“Their opportunity is really to give back and to strengthen our way of life here, which is what our service-men and women have done so much to defend, so getting out here today is going to be something they can actually show their appreciation, and I think for our veterans make sure that they know that they’re appreciated right here at home,” said Mark Saxon of the Green Mountain Council.

Officials said over 300 scouts came out the parade that is exclusive to Vermont.
