WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Several fire departments save a family’s home after a fire in Williston overnight.
Just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday, the Williston Fire Department was called to a home on Southfield Drive. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke showing from the front of the home.
Fire crews used thermal imaging to locate the fire, and determined it was in the basement. After discovering high heat and heavy smoke, crews were able to quickly stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the home.
2 cats were found inside and taken out safely. Nobody was hurt and the fire was deemed accidental due to an electrical issue.
Damage is estimated at more than 100 thousand dollars.
“The scene was quickly under control due to the dedicated work of our Firefighters and mutual aid partners,” Chief Aaron Collette said.
Mutual aid was provided by the Vermont Air National Guard Fire Department, South Burlington Fire Department, Essex Junction Fire Department, Burlington Fire Department, and the Richmond Fire Department.
