BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – People may notice something new on their next trip to the DMV as a reminder to stay safe on the roads.
Over the weekend Red Ribbon Trees were placed at Department of Motor Vehicle sites across the state.
Each ribbon represents a person who died on Vermont roads because of an impaired or distracted driver. Last year there were 42 fatalities involving an impaired driver.
The trees will be at 6 DMVs until the end of the year and the department will host a ceremony to remember those lives lost on December 10th at the Statehouse.
