Autopsy: NH man involved in police standoff died by suicide

CONCORD, N.H. (WCAX) – New Hampshire authorities say the man who died in an armed standoff with police last week in Plymouth shot himself.

Kevin Steinfeldt, 58, was shot by police on Thursday at the Federal House Inn in Plymouth after authorities say they tried for hours to get him to surrender. Six officers opened fire, with some of the shots hitting Steinfeldt.

But authorities on Tuesday said an autopsy revealed that Steinfeldt’s cause of death was a self-inflicted shot to the head.

The names of the six officers have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
