Charlotte Central School holds STEM Fair

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Students at Charlotte Central School were getting the ball rolling on Wednesday, on a life long journey of understanding the world around them.

“We’re planting seeds, seeds of interest, things that they might not have thought about- whether it’s robotics, coding, neuroscience,” said Steve Flint from Charlotte Central School.

At Charlotte Central School’s STEM Fair, non-profits like Vermont Energy Education Program, companies like Casella and Global Foundries, and high schools like CVU set up afterschool in the gym to show students that science can be fun.

“That’s the wheely cart. It’s called that because the front wheel always goes up. And we made it because we could,” said CCS 6th grader Oliver Miller.

Different stations offered students the opportunity to learn a myriad of lessons. A spot for robotics, engineering, environmental studies. But for these students, the lessons went beyond science.

“You can create anything if you believe in yourself,” said 6th grader Flynn Trono.

“If you fail, you can just get back up, and try again,” said Miller.

With seeds planted, who knows where these students will go.
