FEMA disaster deadline approaching

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – With less than two weeks left to apply for federal assistance, FEMA says they have allocated about $40 million in individual assistance to Vermonters from this past summer’s flooding.

FEMA officials on Wednesday said that even for those who don’t have repair estimates or insurance settlements yet, anyone who incurred any loss or damage from the two designated events in July should apply by the November 25 deadline.

“Based upon the size and scope of the July 2023 storms, 195 communities and state entities are applicants in this disaster, which has an estimated cost in excess of $600 million,” said FEMA’s William Roy.

At the same time, he says officials continue to process 2023 claims.

Two Disaster Recovery Centers are still open in Hinesburg and Lyndonville.
