MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – The private company that provides health care to Vermont prison inmates is filing for bankruptcy.
The Vermont Department of Corrections pays Wellpath about $35 million annually to provide those services.
A recent report from Bloomberg showed Wellpath grappling with rising costs and millions of dollars in debt.
Wellpath told the state its restructuring will not impact operations in Vermont and there won’t be any changes to the delivery of health services.
