BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A number of students in our region took a different way to school Thursday morning to honor a Civil Rights icon.
The Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day honors the Louisiana activist who helped integrate her all-white school back on this day in 1960.
Thanks to a grant from her foundation, students in Williston, Burlington, and Essex Junction were among those on Thursday who got the opportunity to discuss social justice with their peers on their way to school.
