Plea deal on the table for Vt. woman accused in husband’s murder

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A resolution in a yearslong murder case could be in sight; a second plea deal is on the table for Angela Auclair.

She’s accused of murdering her husband, David Auclair, with the help of her son Kory George, in July 2019.

Prosecutors say Angela Auclair helped lure her husband to a Hinesburg trailhead where he was shot multiple times.

Kory George was sentenced on federal charges connected to the shooting. He was set to testify that his mother pulled the trigger but that trial never happened.

Angela Auclair has been in custody for nearly five years. This would be her second plea agreement after the first deal fell through earlier this year.

Members of David Auclair’s family were emotional in court on Thursday. His sister, Melisa Semprebon, says their family doesn’t support the agreement.

“She was offered this deal last February and we weren’t happy about it then. But there was a threat of additional charges… Those were wiped away and she still gets the same deal. In the meantime, she’s just been playing havoc with our lives for this entire time and we want justice. This doesn’t seem like it’s enough,” Semprebon said.

That deal offered Auclair 15 years to life with credit for time served.

If a plea agreement were to be signed now, it could happen before Christmas.

Judge John Pacht says the agreement appears likely but if it falls through, the case would go to trial early next year.
