BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Chittenden County Sheriff’s Office is warning about a rash of scam calls.
Authorities say the callers impersonate officers and fabricate information about outstanding arrest warrants or missed court dates. They ask for money and threaten jail time if they aren’t paid immediately.
Police say they would never ask someone to pay over the phone and they urge people to never give out personal information.
If you get one of these calls, report it to the police.
