BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – President-Elect Donald Trump has made a flurry of appointments to his cabinet over the past few days, some of which are very controversial.

From Matt Gaetz as attorney general to Pete Hegseth as secretary of defense to Kristi Noem as secretary of homeland security, all of his choices are allies who were his strongest backers during the 2024 campaign.

We spoke with Alex Garlick, a political science professor at the University of Vermont about the confirmation process and what the picks signal about Trump’s plans for a second term.
