BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Planned Parenthood of Northern New England says it has seen a spike in demand following the reelection of Donald Trump.
Since Election Day, Planned Parenthood says there has been a surge in IUD and birth control implant appointments at its health centers in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
They say bookings have doubled from an average of 51 per week before the election to 105 in the week after.
Officials say they’ve also seen an uptick in requests for contraceptives, consultations for vasectomies and increased concern about the availability of gender-affirming care after the election.
They say the trend falls in line with similar increases after Trump’s 2016 election and the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
