Milestone experimental flight to take off in Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – A first-of-its-kind flight will take off in the Champlain Valley next year.

Swedish hybrid-electric plane-maker Heart Aerospace will carry out the first-ever fully electric experimental flight of its hybrid aircraft from Plattsburgh’s airport.

The plane is set to be the largest fully electric aircraft ever to fly.

The developer says they chose Plattsburgh because of its expansive infrastructure, low air traffic and strong community support.

In a statement, Mark Henry, the chair of the Clinton County Legislature, said, “Clinton County is strengthening its position as a transportation manufacturing cluster, and we are excited to be part of Heart’s journey and the growing sustainable aerospace community in upstate New York.”
