Potential pardon for New York City mayor

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – An Empire State leader is in legal hot water – but he could get help from the highest office.

We’ve told you about the case making Eric Adams the first sitting New York City mayor to be indicted on federal criminal charges.

He’s facing bribery, conspiracy, and other allegations.

However, the democratic mayor has some support from President-elect Trump.

The former president faced his own charges from the Department of Justice and vocally criticized the agency, accusing them of acting on the Biden administration’s orders.

After pleading not guilty, Mayor Eric Adams is echoing those sentiments, saying the indictment comes after he criticized the White House for its handling of the migrant crisis in New York City.

“Mayor Adams has been treated pretty badly. You know, when he said that this whole thing with the migrants coming into New York, this is just not sustainable. He said it very nicely. I said, well, he’s gonna be indicted by these lunatics. A year later he got indicted,” said Trump.

It’s not clear if President-elect Trump would use his power to rescue the high-profile democrat from the indictment.
