ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s governor helped usher in the holiday season on Monday by cutting down a Christmas tree of his own.
Gov. Phil Scott joined Agriculture Secretary Anson Tebbetts at the Whitcomb Family Tree Farm in Essex Junction Monday morning.
Whitcomb’s is kicking off its inaugural season at their new 4-acre farm.
With this week a big time for getting trees, the governor had some words of advice.
“If you’re anticipating getting a tree, you should get out there sooner rather than later. Cutting one down is a tradition for many of us and makes Vermont what it is. I’d recommend getting out there as soon as you can,” said Scott, R-Vermont.
The Whitcomb Family Farm offers cut-your-own and re-cut balsam, Canaan and Fraser firs.
