MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s historic sites got a lot of love this year from visitors.
Attendance at the state’s seven open historical sites hit a 22-year high, according to the Agency of Commerce and Community Development. They say the 80,678 recorded visitors this year spent over $512,000.
The greatest attendance on record was 93,365 in 1998, but back then there were 12 historic sites open compared to today’s nine. The low for attendance was during the pandemic with just 18,214 visitors in 2020.
Vermont Historic Sites will begin receiving visitors again in the spring of 2025.
