Vt. man faces federal gun charges connected to deadly shooting incident

BRISTOL, Vt. (WCAX) – Federal charges have been filed in connection with a deadly shooting incident in Bristol.

Police say Daryn Barsalou admitted to being a drug user and possessed a gun, which is against federal law.

He is not charged in the death of the man who still has not been publicly identified. The shooting happened early Wednesday morning at a home on Adirondack View.

Court records indicate the man shot himself in the head in front of Barsalou and another person.

Police say Barsalou told them he and the victim– who were friends– would routinely fire their guns at their hearts after the firearms were unloaded.

Barsalou is due in federal court Wednesday afternoon.
