New home for SUNY Plattsburgh Canadian studies program

PLATTSBURGH, NY. (WCAX) – A new home for one of SUNY Plattsburgh’s programs.

The college’s center for the study of Canada is moving to 102 Broad St., which currently houses Expeditionary Study.

The program was previously at 133 Ct. but was forced to move to make way to Clinton Community College.

The director of Canadian studies says a new house means they will continue to receive federal funding.

He says having a house is a key metric for it.

“In the absence of the funds could we keep going – yes but the scale of what we do will be diminished,” Christopher Kirkey of SUNY Plattsburgh said.

He expects their new house to be open this spring. Expeditionary Studies will move to Beaumont.
