NEWCOMB, N.Y. (WCAX) – Authorities say the search for a missing hiker in New York’s Adirondacks is now a recovery mission.
Last week, police said Leo DuFour, 22, of Quebec, set off on the Allen Mountain Trailhead in Newcomb on Nov. 29 and hasn’t been seen since.
Monday, New York forest rangers said they have searched nearly 400 miles by foot in deep snow and harsh winter conditions, and still haven’t found DuFour.
They say they will continue to search for him in a limited capacity because of those harsh conditions.
