Study to examine future use of old Clinton Community College campus

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – As Clinton Community College gears up for a move, a new study will examine what should happen to the college’s former campus.

The school is moving to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus next fall, and now the county is looking into a new use for the space.

Clinton County Director of Economic Development Molly Ryan says they tapped the engineering firm CDL to work on a feasibility study.

There will also likely be public forums during the study to see what residents would like to see on the former college’s grounds.

“This is a very large parcel that has the ability to become something very important to this community, whatever that may be. And I do not know what that looks like yet but certainly, the county wants to make sure that this is in the best interest of the residents of Clinton County and generating that tax revenue that will go and benefit everyone’s bottom line,” Ryan said.

The study is expected to take around six months to complete.
