LEBANON, N.H. (WCAX) – There will soon be a new place to try your hand with lady luck in our region. The Revo Casino and Social House on Lebanon’s Miracle Mile is opening on Wednesday.
The games are being assembled and the sign is being hung out front. The Revo Casino and Social House, with its 136 slot-style games and more than a dozen table games, is preparing to open its doors.
The 20,000-square-foot casino is located in a former car dealership. It is replacing the company’s smaller charitable gaming room in Lebanon and adding a much bigger dynamic to the region.
“We have this huge bar behind us — it’s a forty-foot bar. We also have thirty dining tables,” said casino general manager Shawn Harris.
Under state law, 35% of the profits must be given to nonprofits that are chosen by the New Hampshire Lottery Commission. The casino is one of five of its kind operating across the state.
“As a company last year, we were tracking to go to almost $14 million in charitable contributions. And with this new opening in Lebanon and our new opening in Conway coming soon this year as well, we think that is going to grow,” Harris said.
“A lot of folks like to gamble and the entertainment that goes along with that,” said Lebanon City Manager Shaun Mulholland. And while he notes gambling addiction can be a concern, he says the additional 80 jobs coming to the community is a positive. “The casino, like every other business, has gone through that process — public hearings, meetings before the planning board — and they have met those requirements.”
Casino operators say it will likely be a draw for people well outside the Upper Valley. “Not that night live is dead here but we really think we are going to bring it up a level,” Harris said. Of course, there would be no money to donate to nonprofits if everyone was a winner. That’s something to keep in mind if you plan on putting your own money on the line.
