BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Democratic Burlington city councilors have signaled that a pro-Palestinian advisory question will likely not make it on the Town Meeting Day ballot once again.
The proposed voter referendum calls for an end to “Israel’s apartheid regime, settler colonialism and military occupation.” It’s the same question that failed to make it on the ballot last year and came on the heels of three students of Palestinian descent being shot by a gunman downtown in November.
Democrats voted against the question earlier this year arguing that the city is better off focusing on other issues happening locally.
The measure will officially be voted on at Monday’s City Council meeting
