Vermonters are getting ready for a white Christmas this year

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas this week as widespread snow touches down in our region.

“When there’s snow it just like, makes Christmas feel more like Christmas,” said Colchester resident Leah Blais.

For kids bold enough to brave the cold, there’s nothing like waking up on Christmas morning to find your neighborhood dusted in white.

“People think it’s a good sign,” “And also, I’m not very good at snowing because I have a stuffed nose,” said 8-year-old Ben and 5-year-old Luke Botas.

Ben and Luke came with their mom to Essex Junction to run under the holiday lights the night before, the night before Christmas. Ben says this season he’s most looking forward to sledding down the snow pile he made behind his deck with his dad. Luke, on the other hand, has other priorities.

“He has a leaf blower, and when he blows it at the snow it goes boom,” said Luke.

Boom is right. Our weather team predicts 7 inches of snow in some parts of the region and potentially 9 inches in the mountains. The perfect weather to get cozy for those lucky enough to be on break.

“The snow makes it easier for families to stay inside, spend some more time together, have some nice cup of coffee, some hot chocolate,” said Aymen Mubalgul, who is visiting from Boston.

Through a tunnel of lights, families enjoy Christmas music, hold each other tight to fend off the freezing wind, run through the snow, and play before the evening comes to an end in a winter wonderland.
