ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) – One man is in custody tonight after police say he stole a car and robbed a Hannaford.
St. Albans police say they found 44-year-old Travis Merritt sitting in a stolen car in the town of St. Albans just before 5pm Saturday.
Police then later connected Merritt to a Christmas eve assault and robbery at the town’s Hannaford Supermarket in the Highgate Commons Shopping Plaza.
Merritt is being held on over ten thousand dollars bail and is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
