Vt. designer launches advocacy project for women to ‘go flat’ following mastectomy

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont designer is launching a new advocacy program for women considering their surgical options after receiving a mastectomy.

“STILL” celebrates the beauty, strength, and confidence of women who choose “aesthetic flat closure,” a surgical reconstruction option that gives women a flat contour of the breast, as opposed to implant surgery.

Cat Viglienzoni spoke with Lisa Sylvester, who drew on her own experience with the procedure.
