BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Vermont woman accused of planning her husband’s 2019 murder was sentenced in Burlington Friday to 18 years in prison.
Angela Auclair is accused of murdering her husband, David Auclair, with the help of her son Kory George, in July 2019.
Prosecutors say she helped lure her husband to a Hinesburg trailhead where he was shot multiple times.
George was sentenced on federal charges connected to the shooting. He was set to testify that his mother pulled the trigger but that trial never happened.
A Chittenden County judge on Friday signed off on Auclair’s new plea — conspiracy to commit first-degree murder — and sentenced her to 35 years to life. The deal calls for 18 years in prison with credit for time served, meaning she’ll spend around 12 more years behind bars.
Reporter Cam Smith was in the courtroom where he had a chance to speak with the victim’s loved ones. You can watch his full report on the Channel 3 News tonight.
