JAY, Vt. (WCAX) – With ski season well underway, the recent snowfall means skiers, riders and resorts alike are chilled but thrilled.
Staffers at Jay Peak say they had a consistent flow of skiers on the slopes through the pandemic, but numbers are now back to pre-pandemic levels.
They are especially excited for the weather to continue as it has been so far.
That, combined with recent snowfall, means business is booming.
“We’re finally back to a real Vermont winter, right? We kind of got lulled to sleep the last two winters with the warm weather, but I think this, looking outside… people say, ‘Yeah, it’s crazy out there,’ but this is a real Vermont winter and we’re very happy about that,” said Tom Howell, the director of administration at Jay Peak.
Officials tell us they hope the snow keeps falling all winter long.
