BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – More than 200 Vermont Air National Guard members have been deployed to a base in Japan.
The Guard says its airmen — along with equipment and F-35s — are at the Kadena Air Base as part of a planned mission to support operations overseas and train in the Indo-Pacific region.
The deployment is expected to last several months, which means there will be fewer F-35 flights in the Burlington area.
The Guard says more than one-third of airmen are now away from home, with ongoing missions in Africa and in the U.S. Central Command region.
