Nonprofit looking for mobile home park site in southern Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – There could be a new mobile home park coming to Vermont in the next few years.

The nonprofit Cooperative Development Institute was given $50,000 by an anonymous donor to pick a piece of land in Vermont for a new mobile home park.

The organization is actively looking and already has its eye on an area in southern Vermont where they hope to set up about 50 homes. Officials say as the housing market becomes more scarce, they are seeing more people look to the mobile home option.

“It has led to people to discard that old stigma about manufactured housing. There is actually a really good product, installed on a proper foundation now that will last, even serving people well, even in New England winters,” said the institute’s Jeremiah Ward.

The nonprofit is looking to connect with a landowner for the project.
