Vermonter tapped to ‘come on down’ on iconic ‘The Price is Right’

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – If you’re a “Price is Right” fan, you just may have seen her on your screen Monday morning. We caught up with a Killington woman who hedged her bets on the latest episode of the popular game show.

“Come on down!” is a catchphrase Catherine Potter knows well, but she never dreamed she’d hear it in person. “Never in my life did I think I would be on the ‘The Price is Right’ let alone to be called down to be on bidders row — what an honor,” Potter said.

She was selected to be on the popular game show — with a little help from WCAX — when she auditioned at the Rutland Whoopie Pie Festival last fall. A few months later, she got the call and flew out to sunny California.

“Once we got into the studio was when my heart started to go… Oh my gosh, I’m so nervous. I’m here to be in the studio. It’d be really cool if my name got called,’’ Potter said.

And it was called. But a Showcase Showdown win was not in the cards and it was all over after one wrong guess.

However, Potter didn’t come home completely empty-handed, she scored a 75-inch TV and some serious bragging rights. “The game that I played was a little difficult I would think. I played a game for a brand-new car. Didn’t win the car, that’s okay,” Potter said. “I like telling it like, ‘I was on the ‘The Price is Right.’ If you want to watch my episode, it’s on CBS.’”
