Survey shows drop in some drug use among Vt. youth

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont youth are using some kinds of drugs less, according to the state’s Young Adult Survey.

The survey found misuse of prescription drugs and cocaine each dropped by around half compared to 2022.

Vaping cannabis rose a few percentage points, as did the number of youth using chewing tobacco or nicotine pouches.

The survey was commissioned by the Vermont Department of Health and surveyed about 1,300 young people ages 18 to 25.
