BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Burlington is opening an emergency cold weather shelter.
It comes as the National Weather Service forecasts sub-zero temperatures the next few days.
With the state motel program at capacity, an estimated 250 people are sleeping without shelter in Vermont.
The shelter is open at the Miller Center, located at 130 Gosse Court from 5p.m. to 8 a.m. through Wednesday, Jan. 22.
No registration for the shelter is required and pets are allowed.
Transportation is also provided – pick ups will take place at the Community Resource Center at 228 No. Winooski Ave and the Fletcher Free Library. Pick-up times begin at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
