Burlington considers cat licensing policy

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Happening Thursday, chatter in Burlington’s City Hall could cost cat owners.

The Dog Task Force is recommending changes to the city’s identification licensure and regulation ordinances for cats.

The change would essentially add cats to some nuisance pet behavior policies, such as attacking other animals including wildlife, roaming, and defecating off the guardian’s premises.

It would also require cats to wear a collar with identification and the owner’s contact information.

If you’d like to weigh in, a public meeting will be held at the Contois Auditorium at 5:30 on Thursday.
