New sculpture on view near Interstate 89 in South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – You may have noticed a new piece of art near Interstate 89 in South Burlington.

Vermont artist Christopher Curtis designed the sculpture, called That Place in the Stars.

It sits next to OnLogic headquarters at Technology Park and is just a short distance from the iconic Whales’ Tails.

The new sculpture is nearly three stories tall and features a spire bisected by an arch.

The artist says the inspiration came from two scrap pieces of glass that he had put together.

“These days there’s a lot of darkness in people’s minds, so this is one little piece of joy, and I hope that people going by the interstate or come by here are able to take just a little bit of joy from that glance at it,” Curtis said.

The artist says public art like this is important because it can bring the community together over a shared experience.

The sculpture will be on display through the spring.
