UVM researcher weighs in on Red Dye No. 3 ban

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Food and Drug Administration last week took action to ban a commonly used dye used in everything from candy to cough syrup because of its links to cancer.

The agency said it was taking action because some studies have found that Red 3 caused cancer in lab rats.

Cat Viglienzoni spoke with Trishnee Bhurosy, a nutritionist with the UVM Cancer Center, about the federal action.
