$15.8M headed to NY dairy farmers to protect water quality, reduce climate impacts

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – The New York dairy industry is getting cash to protect water in our region.

Gov. Kathy Hochul says $15.8 million in funding is headed to 22 Empire State farms and organizations to help protect water quality, cut greenhouse gases, and mitigate climate change impacts. It’s part of the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation and the Enhanced Nutrient and Methane Management Program.

Two farms in our region will see the benefits on that money, with over $800,000 going towards a farm in the Lake Champlain watershed and over $500,000 for a Franklin County farm in the St. Lawrence watershed.
