Authorities say fire that killed mother and newborn was accidental

SANDGATE, Vt. (WCAX) – A New Year’s Day fire that killed a Bennington County woman and her newborn baby was accidental, according to investigators.

Nicole Grogan, 22, and her 12-day-old son, Oliver, died after fire overtook their Sandgate home. Two other people were injured.

Authorities say the cause of the fire remains determined.
