Wildlife Watch: Efforts to protect spruce grouse

FERDINAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Work is being done to save an endangered bird that calls our region home.

Spruce grouse are a Vermont state-endangered species. They are only found in isolated pockets in Essex County including the Conte National Wildlife Refuge, the Victory State Forest. and the Wenlock and Victory Basin Wildlife Management Areas.

Ike Bendavid went to Essex County to learn more about one of the state’s rarest resident birds.
