BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Former Vermont Governor and Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean says national Democrats are abandoning the so called 50 state strategy. Dean chaired the D.N.C. from 2005 to 2009,

He engineered the ‘50 state strategy’, a grassroots effort to have democratic candidates to run and engage voters in every state. In part, he’s credited with helping former President Barack Obama win the white house. National Democrats exceeded expectations in the midterm elections, but Dean says they’re not organizing on the grassroots level in every state.

“I always used to go the the northeast kingdom when I was running and I always knew I was going to lose when I went to the northeast kingdom, but asking for peoples vote is a sign of respect and it makes governing easier after you win even.” said former Governor Dean
