ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – The Supreme Sneakerhead Competition announced who won and they just happen to be from Essex Junction.
Vanessa Strackbein was awarded $10,000 in the national competition, and she will head to Los Angeles to design her one-of-kind pair of kicks. The Vermont native says she will never forget the feeling when she first found out.
“There was some denial there and I think I’ve still in a bit of shock about it, but I was like complete euphoria the whole evening,” Strackbein said.
The competition helped raised awareness to support Oceana to help ocean conversation. She hopes her shoes replicate her dad’s favorite Adidas sneakers but wants to include recycled materials.
