BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Filing your taxes may come with less of a headache for residents of New York and New Hampshire.
The IRS said Tuesday it will test a free, electronic tax-filing system early next year in 13 states, including New Hampshire and New York. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to give it a go.
The tax agency earlier this year announced it was developing the tool to save Americans money. Americans spend about $11 billion each year on tax preparation services, accountants and others to help them fill out their returns.
Tax filing season officially began Monday.
