COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – This weekend marks the 40th annual Colchester Winter Carnival.

It’s the biggest three day event for Colchester Parks and Recreation all year, with roughly 1,000 to 1,500 attendees.

Whether it’s enjoying smores or riding ponies, the carnival boasts fun for all ages. There have been some changes throughout the decades, but many loyal families make their return each year.

“I think the best part of this whole event is bringing the community together, come on this one day and you see young families coming out and their being introduced to the community and friends that they see periodically throughout the year and make those connections again,” Glen Cuttitta of Colchester Parks and Recreation said.

This year’s theme is “Ruby” for its 40th anniversary. And to mark the grand milestone of four decades, Colchester Parks and Rec added an extra performance.

The carnival continues through tomorrow.
