
ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. (WCAX) – Nonprofit Girls on the Run Vermont celebrated their 25th anniversary Saturday.
Over 200 volunteers of the organization celebrated at the Essex Middle School and completed their third and final coach training of the season.
Girls on the Run uses a research and physical activity-based curriculum to inspire girls in 3rd through 8th grade to be happy, healthy, and confident.
“The drive for these mentors to want to be a positive influence and impact on children’s lives and just the smiles and the energy that’s here today. I mean, this is what it’s all about. We empowering girls through these volunteer coaches,” Girls on the Run Executive Director Rachel Desautels said.
Since 1999, Girls on the Run Vermont empowered approximately 38,000 girls across 110 sites throughout the state through the 10-week after-school program.
