WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) – Some were excited for the 58th Super bowl while others hoped to catch a glimpse of a pop star, watching her boyfriend on the field.
“I’m watching the super bowl to see Taylor swift,” 11-year-old June Eckert said.
“I love it a lot I listen to her almost every day,” Colchester resident Andrea Daly said.
Fans say the relationship between Taylor swift and Travis Kelce overshadowed the battle between Kansas City Chiefs…
“Oh, chiefs all the way,” New Hampshire resident Matthew Ashley said.
And San Francisco 49ers.
“She is bringing a lot of viewers a way to connect to football with families and I’m sure everyone will love to see her,” Daly said.
“13′s like her lucky number and he’s like her 13th boyfriend,” Eckert said.
There are Vermonters who are excited for their love story.
“I think it’s great for them as a couple because they made such incredible accomplishments this year,” Burlington resident Allison Getzinger said.
Four quarters brewing even had a Taylor swift tailgate to celebrate before the sports kicked off — Swifties enjoyed some drinks and the eras tour movie.
“It’s exciting I watched it all before, it’s really fun to watch it’s an experience for sure,” Daly said.
Matthew Ashley says the chiefs picked up a lot of fans this season because of the pop sensation.
“I don’t understand how some people usually blame Taylor for being on camera when she’s not the one holding it herself and if anything like that NFL knows she’s helped them dramatically,” Ashley said.
Some Swifties say t-swift is not taking away from the sport but turning the spotlight on it.
“I think she’s definitely getting people who don’t watch football into it which is kind of cool you know some people actually might discover they like the sport,” Burlington resident Grace Bevelheimer said.
Burlington residents Nick Dwyer and Getzinger say the duo — have people doing things — they normally wouldn’t.
“All the Swifties are kind of watching now which is interesting, so I think it’s good….Yeah and the football guys are listening to Taylor swift,” they both said.
